The “Shape” of Student Ministry |
|
The success of our strategy is based on what we call the “shape” of our ministry and is demonstrated by a triangle. Directly in the center of our triangle is the Power of God, which everything we do depends upon. Just as a triangle has three necessary elements to connect each angle, there are three “sides” to our student ministry: students, leaders, and programs. These elements are pretty straightforward and can be used to judge the apparent success or failure of a ministry. The true gauges of success are found however, “in the angles” because they are what really determine the “shape” of the ministry, no matter how the “lines” vary.
The “angles” are the following distinctives which encourage students to grow to mature Christian adulthood:
1. Partnering with Parents Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Ephesians 6:1-4
We seek to empower the God-ordained structure of the nuclear family.
2. Participating with Adults Titus 2:2-6; Hebrews 12:1
We seek to establish an extended Christian family in the church for students.
3. Practicing Godly Habits Ephesians 4:12-15; 1 Timothy 4:7
We seek to equip students to take the initiative for their own spiritual growth.
We believe that if we do the hard work “in the angles,” then the “shape” of our ministry will honor God and be truly successful in helping students grow. |
